Words to Live By

Over at Big Picture Classes I decided to participate in this year's Big Idea Festival. This year's theme was Words To Live By. There were 12 teachers and each teacher selected a word to inspire us in this challenge. They provided 6x6 printables with the word and a space for journalling. This is what I came up with...

Papers are from a My Mind's Eye paper stack, and stamps are from various brands.

August Counterfeit Kit Blog Hop

Welcome to the Counterfeit Kit blog hop, and thank you for visiting my blog! If you get lost along the way, or happened to randomly find my blog, you can start the hop here.

Our assignment for the blog hop was to do a project based on this exclusive sketch by Sketch Support Challenge blog.

It's been a long time since I've done a two page layout, so this was a little scary for me at first! I love the sketches at Sketch Support though, because they give you basic measurements for the elements in the sketch. You are free to follow the measurements or get as creative as you want with it! They even give you suggestions on how to change up the sketches on their blog... I think it's great! Anyway, I used green cardstock as the base and scrounged around in my kit to find these Echo Park papers that would work for these dimensions. I added a couple flowers, some buttons, letter stickers for my title, and a circle rub-on to frame the title.

Here's a close up of the first page...

and a close up of the second page.

I apologize for the bad pictures of my layouts... it's been rainy here all day and we've been preparing for Irene to hit us tomorrow so I haven't had a chance to get pictures in good light.

Okay, well thank you again for visiting my blog! Your next stop on the blog hop is Milissa!

Too Good to be True

This card was created from my August Counterfeit Kit using sketch #231 at CPS-Card Sketches.

Precious Sleep

Here is another layout using my August Counterfeit Kit. Challenge #1 on the Counterfeit Kit blog is to do a sketch swap using a sketch from Sketch Support. I used card sketch #8 and created this layout. I am also entering this layout into the 3 is a Magic Number Challenge at Shimelle.com

Cowboy Liam

I made this layout with my August Counterfeit Kit using sketch 132 from The Scrappiest blog. I am also entering this into the Signature Accent Challenge at Shimelle.com - I love using buttons and inking the paper edges!

A Little Birdie Told Me

This layout was made using papers from Sassafrass Lass and alphabet stickers from Jillibean Soup.

I created this project for the color challenge at Birds of a Feather, and using the Sketch of the Week at Shimelle.com

Your Smile Makes My Heart Sing

This page was made with papers from Sassafras Lass and alphabet from Bella Blvd.

At Birds of a Feather one of the August challenges is to pick a subject and take their portrait... it only took me 279 pictures to get two really great ones of Collin! The layout design is from the Starting Point Challenge at Shimelle.com

Strawberry Lemonade Sorbet

I am the guest designer this month at Kitchen Keepsake - a just for fun forum with challenges for scrapbooking those favorite recipes. My challenge this month is to do a layout of a cool treat you like to enjoy on a hot day.. whether it's ice cream or a nice frozen drink.

For this layout I used papers from LYB, and a sketch from Birds of a Feather's August sketch challenge.

And I just have to say.. doesn't that sorbet just look yummy! My hubby is getting used to me taking pictures of food now so he didn't even blink when I put this in a pretty dish and took it outside on the deck!

Collin's Kisses

I made this layout using some old Cosmo Cricket papers in my stash. I used a sketch from Sketchy Thursdays and will be entering it into the August Cosmo Cricket challenge (use 2 photos) at scrapbook.com

I love your Smile

At Birds of a Feather one of the challenges for this month is to do a project inspired by this ad. I took the polda dots and swirls and found this beautiful paper in my stash from Crate Paper. I used Sketch 249 at Pencil Lines and created this layout:

Mayen at the clinic

This is my first layout with my August counterfeit kit. At the Birds of a Feather forum one of the challenges is to scraplift another layout in the gallery - this is what I came up with. I also have to make a side note that I've had some okay rub-ons, and I've had a lot of bad rub-ons, but the rub-ons I used from Cherry Arte are fabulous! They stuck right on the paper and barely any rubbing required!

Random Cards

So my son Collin is in the hospital for surgery and will be in for a few days. Nothing seriously major and he should recouperate quickly, but it leaves a lot of free time for me sitting in the hospital with him. So what is a girl to do? I packed up a rolling tote with my basic supplies and a few kits. So far I've just been making cards since they're quick and don't take a lot of room to make. Here are some of the cards I've made so far that haven't been for any challenges....

Hi card

August Counterfeit Kit

I've been following Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog for a while as a way to use up some of my hoard... I skipped last month because I had so much of the June kit leftover. Now that I've used up as much as I think I'm going to use and it's ready to be dispersed back into my stash, I'm going to participate with the August Kit. This month's inspiration are the September 2010 kits from My Creative Scrapbook. I loved the creative/mini kit with Echo Park's A Walk In the Park collection with extra embellishments added.

I took the idea of using a paper collection and found Echo Park's For the Record collection and added coordinating embellishments from my stash....

Just like in the inspiration kit I added some rub-ons, a package of thickers, some ribbons, a little bling, and flowers. The inspiration kit also has chipboard but I don't have much naked chipboard so I added some buttons and a package of stamps.

Here I've packaged it all up in a nice neat zippered kit pouch (left over from a Storryteller's Club kit) ready to go!
